MMFF 2011 official entries announced

The 8 official entries for the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2011) happening this December were announced today, June 17, 2011, by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

And just like in MMFF 2010, the "Kings" and "Queens" will still be part of MMFF 2011. I'm talking about Vic Sotto, Bong Revilla, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Kris Aquino.

And the excitement doesn't end up there: husband and wife Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos, whose movies "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo" were the Festival Topgrosser during MMFF 2006 and MMFF 2007 respectively, are very much back in the festival with "My Househusband".

Expect the toughest box-office battle this MMFF 2011!

The 19th KBP Golden Dove Awards Night was held Thursday, November 25, 2010, at the Taal Vista Lodge in Tagaytay City.

It was hosted by Boy Abunda with DJ Laila Chikadora and the performers included Guji Lorenzana, Princess, XB GenSan and Young JV.

As expected, ABS-CBN (including its affiliates Studio 23, DZMM, WRR) reaped most of the awards, winning 22 trophies, and scooped once again the Best TV Station award.

Among the Kapamilya individuals who won awards last night were Ces Drilon (the highest award - Broadcaster of the Year), Boy Abunda (Best Public Affairs Program Host), Coco Martin (Best Actor) and Judy Ann Santos (Best Actress).

Gladys Reyes gives birth to Baby Grant Carlin

Actress Gladys Reyes has given birth via Caesarian Section Saturday morning to a 6.5-lb baby boy, her 3rd child with Christopher Roxas.

Gladys gave birth 10am today at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, as reported by ABS-CBN News.

They named their new baby as Grant Carlin Sommereux.

I love the name! A website about baby names says that Grant is Scottish in origin and it means "tall, big or great" while Carlin is an Irish name meaning "little champion".

Gladys is already mother to Gian Christophe, 4, and Gianna Aquisha, 2.

Last month, her bestfriend and "Mara Clara" co-star Judy Ann Santos also gave birth to her first child Baby Lucho Agoncillo, also at the same hospital as Gladys.

Maybe someday, Baby Grant and Baby Lucho will also be best of friends just like their moms.

Lucho, son of Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo, has been released by PEP yesterday.

That's after Baby Lucho was baptized last Sunday, November 14, 2010, the same day of Pacquiao - Margarito bout.

He's such a cute and adorable baby! It's kinda obvious that he got the upper part of his face from Ryan while the lower part is from Juday.

It's too early to tell but I think Baby Lucho looks like Judy Ann more than Ryan. What ya think?

Judy Ann Santos gives birth to Baby Lucho

Congrats! Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo are now proud parents to a healthy baby boy.

As reported in the news on TV, Judy Ann gave birth via normal delivery to Baby Juan Luis or Baby Lucho at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang.

Judy Ann was admitted in the hospital at 11:00am today and she gave birth at around 6pm.

I'm excited to see Baby Lucho. I hope he got the eyes and lips of Juday, the nose and small face of Ryan, and when he grows up, he'll have the height of his Tito Jeffrey Santos and the talents of both of his parents.

"Hating Kapatid" pulls in P42.3M and not P75M on its first week

Why did Viva Films report to Stir.ph a very high P75M 5-day gross for "Hating Kapatid"?

Box Office Mojo has the updated box office receipts last week and it says that the Judy Ann Santos-Sarah Geronimo starrer "Hating Kapatid" had $927,281 or P42.3 million from July 21 to 25, and not P75M as reported by Viva.

It settled on #2 behind the foreign film "The Last Airbender"
which grossed $1.2M or P56.1M.

That means, "Miss You Like Crazy" is still the Philippine movie with
the highest 5-day gross this 2010 with P67.6M, followed by "You to Me
Are Everything" (P48.8M), then "Hating Kapatid" (P42.3M), "Here Comes
the Bride" (P42.1M) and "Paano Na Kaya" (P41.4M).

Over-all, only three movies so far have reached the P100M mark.

"Hating Kapatid" earns P75 million in 5 days | The highest 5-day gross in 2010

Viva Films' "Hating Kapatid", which opened July 21, reportedly earned P75 million in just 5 days or during its 1st week: July 21 to 25.

Wow! That's according to Viva Films via STIR website.

It's almost not believable because they only had P10.5 million during its opening. So, does it mean they earned P64.5M or around P16M/day the next 4 days?

If it's indeed true, then "Hating Kapatid", which stars Judy Ann Santos and Sarah Geronimo, now has the highest 1st week gross this 2010, beating "Miss You Like Crazy", which starred John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.

And if the trend continues, it's going to be the fastest to reach P100M mark and become the topgrossing film this year.

"Hating Kapatid" Box Office Opening: P10.5 million

Viva Films, Director Wenn Deramas and the whole cast led by Judy Ann Santos and Sarah Geronimo are for sure pleased to hear the news that
their film "Hating Kapatid" had a P10.5 million opening gross
yesterday.

That's despite facing tough competition, such as last week's releases
"Inception" and "Cinco", as well as newly-released "The Last Airbender" which also opened yesterday.

"Hating Kapatid" is expected to do well in the box office because Judy Ann and Sarah were "Box Office Queen" honorees.

Judy Ann was 1999 Box Office Queen for "Isusumbong Kita Sa Tatay Ko"
while Sarah is the reigning queen for 2 years already for the movies "A Very Special Love" and "You Changed My Life".

The movie director, Wenn Deramas, is also a box office director,
having 2 movies in the All Time Top 10 Box Office Hits in the Philippines.

"Hating Kapatid" is now the 7th movie this 2010 to have at least P10M opening gross.

20 Stars who Ruled the Decade: Marian is 15th, Angel 17th

20 celebrities have been ranked by Yes! Magazine as the 20 Stars Who
Ruled The Decade (2000-2009).

Yes! Magazine has ranked them according to who made TV networks rich,
who rang the tills, who earned the respect of the industry and who
defined pop culture in the last 10 years. The mag considered figures
from AGB Nielsen Media Research, the box office, record sales and
product endorsements.

Topping the list is the Queen of All Media Kris Aquino. She
immediately shared to her Twitter followers the good news: "I'm on Yes
cover, ranked #1 for the 20 stars who ruled the decade...Yes said they
based choice on hard stats, public perception, network assets plus the
intangibles of celebrityhood. All told, the stars who defined the
decade, its landscape concerns, tastes. Many thanks to Yes-out on
Sunday."

Browsing the list, Judy Ann Santos ranked higher than Claudine
Barretto and two even ranking higher than the Megastar Sharon Cuneta.
Marian Rivera meanwhile who only rose to fame recently sits
comfortably at #15 while Angel Locsin is only 17th.

Sarah Geronimo, who I think should be ranked higher, is only #18. Star
for All Seasons Vilma Santos isn't included as well as topselling
artists Gary V and Martin Nievera.

Vice Ganda apologizes to Judy Ann Santos

Before anything gets worse, Showtime judge Vice Ganda has already apologized to Queen of Soap Judy Ann Santos in connection with Vice's joke on Showtime last Saturday, March 27, 2010.

Some fans of Judy Ann are said to be mad at Vice when he compared one contestant to Juday. In the said episode, Vice made this remark to one chubby girl: "Ang ganda-ganda pa ng kutis mo. Para kang si Judy Ann noon. At ganon pa din naman ngayon na buntis sya."

Juday's bestfriend Gladys Reyes, who's also among the judges, later said HI to Juday who was watching at home. "Don't worry, ipagtatanggol kita dito kay Vice," she said.

It's unsure though if Judy Ann was really offended or not, but if she really was, Vice Ganda already said sorry to her in an interview with SNN last night.

According to Vice, it was unintentional and supposed to be a joke. He was about to mention a soap brand but cut himself off when he realized he's not allowed to mention it.

Vice Ganda plays a maid on Judy Ann-Sarah Geronimo film "Hating Kapatid" which hits theaters soon.

Claudine Barretto's drama anthology starts airing on March 28

Claudine Barretto will finally have her first regular show on GMA 7 three months after she transferred to the network.

She will have her own weekly drama anthology starting March 27. In the self-titled show, she will portray different kind of roles and be paired with various leading men.

To start it off, Claudine's real-life husband Raymart Santiago will join her on its first offering.

Claudine actually has done somewhat similar show when she was still on ABS-CBN. It was called "Star Drama Theatre Presents" but she starred there only for a month 'coz the show featured many stars not only Claudine. Unlike in her new Kapuso show which she can really claim as her own.

Judy Ann Santos, Claudine's showbiz rival, already had the same kind of show on ABS-CBN in 10 years ago. It was called "Judy Ann Drama Special" which lasted for 2 years.

Judy Ann Santos is two months pregnant! Yahooooo!!!!

Almost one year after their wedding in April 2009, Ryan Agoncillo announced earlier on GMA 7's Eat Bulaga that wife Judy Ann Santos is indeed pregnant.

Ryan even showed the live audience of Eat Bulaga an ultrasound image of the baby to the delight of the audience and the televiewers as well.

We, at home, were also happy to hear it from Ryan and I even texted my friends about it.

This confirms the rumors which broke out two weeks ago that Judy Ann Santos is now pregnant with her first baby.

Judy Ann Santos did not deny nor confirm the rumors before and it turned out that she actually has a positive news for us.

On Eat Bulaga earlier, she granted a phone patch interview on Eat Bulaga earlier and broke her silence as she happily announced, along with Ryan, the good news of her first-time pregnancy.

It just sounded funny how the couple announced it on TV.

Ryan said, "Na-bullseye po! Gumagana si Manoy!" while Judy Ann said, "Hindi ako makapaniwalang may baby na 'ko. Tao pala ako, akala ko robot ako!"

Judy Ann and Ryan are already parents to Johann, their adopted daughter.

This new development in Juday's married life might prompt her to take a leave on television and in movies.

She has "Habang May Buhay" on ABS-CBN, a movie in the works with Sarah Geronimo under Viva Films and an upcoming movie about Inang Peñafrancia to be directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya.

'Habang May Buhay' debuts with 28% in Mega Manila

"Habang May Buhay", which stars the Philippines' Queen of Soap Opera Judy Ann Santos and sought-after leading man Derek Ramsay, premiered last Monday, February 01, 2010, and rated 28.0% in AGB's Mega Manila survey, which was just 0.1% lower than the rating of its rival program shown on the same timeslot.

It's now the lowest pilot rating for a Judy Ann Santos soap. Juday's previous 2 soaps such as Sa Piling Mo last 2006 and Ysabella in 2007 had 28.4% and 28.9% pilot ratings respectively.

After their much talked about wedding last week, Ryan Agoncillo has revealed his plans of havings 13 children with wife Judy Ann Santos.

Seriously speaking, Ryan just wants 5 cute kids with Judy Ann.

In the May 2009 issue of S Magazine, the couple is in the cover but it was only Ryan who was interviewed for the feature.

Ryan had nothing but sweet word for Juday.

"I love her for the same reasons. Pero 'yung lalim ng relationship namin, iyon ang lumalalim pa. Mas may depth na ngayon. Four years ago, you probably heard me talk about her being maalaga. Multiply that by 365 days and then 4 years, ganoon kalalim na ‘yun. She's still the same person that I fell in love with before. So lumalim lang talaga ‘yung appreciation ko sa mga traits niya na nagustuhan ko sa kanya," he said.

Judy Ann and Ryan did "it" at noontime

In an interview, newly weds Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos revealed that nothing happened during their first night together as new husband and wife. Owsss????

Their first honeymoon was supposed to happen on the night of their wedding day, April 28.

Ryan defended that he and Juday were so tired that night so they weren't able to do "it". But they did "it" midday during their wedding day. Huwaaatt?? Really???

Thanks Ryan for being so honest!

The wedding of Juday Ann and Ryan happened in the morning, they had their breakfast afterwards, then the couple did "it" by noontime while everone was busy preparing for the wedding reception which started in the afternoon at 4:00 PM.

In other words, they were in a hurry to do it right?

The Manile reception of Judy Ann-Ryan wedding happened last Saturday, May 2, at Le Souffle in Makati and not in Taguig as earlier reported.

Piolo Pascual, who was not invited to the the wedding in Batangas, was one of the invited guests for the Manila reception but unfortunately, he didn't show up. Why Papa P? What's wrong?

Buti pa si Jason Abalos invited sa wedding (at least sa wedding reception) nina Judy Ann Santos at Ryan Agoncillo na ginanap nga last Tuesday, April 28, 2009 pero si Piolo Pascual, hindi. How sad?!!

Naayos man ang gusot sa pagitan nina Piolo at Judy Ann pati na rin si Ryan, hindi na rin siguro maibabalik ang dating closeness nina Piolo at Juday. Naging close nga ba sila? Or purely professional lang ang namagitan sa kanila?

Maybe, Piolo and Judy Ann were never friends kaya malamang na hindi nga siya naimbitahan sa wedding nina Juday at Ryan dahil naging pribado ang nasabing kasal at ang mga malalapit lamang sa dalawa ang naroon kasama na nga dito si Jason Abalos.

Si Jason ay naging close friend ni Ryan dahil sa pagiging magkatrabaho nila sa Pieta (na magtatapos na bukas) at sa pelikulang My Kuya's Wedding.

Hindi na rin iba si Jason kay Judy Ann dahil nagkasama na rin sila noon sa Ysabella.

Piolo was very vocal in saying na dadalo siya sa wedding nina Judy Ann at Ryan if in case maimbitahan siya. Pero hindi nga ito nangyari, na inaabangan pa naman ng mga Juday-Piolo fans.

Sa Sabado ay may inihandang party o celebration ang newly weds na sina Judy Ann Santos at Ryan Agoncillo sa kanilang mga kaibigan at sa media lalung-lalo na sa mga hindi naimbitahan last Tuesday. It will be held in Le Soufle at The Fort. Kasama na kaya dito si Piolo Pascual?
