Miss World Philippines 2011 Official Results (Winners)

Number 13 proved lucky when Gwendolyn Ruais (Candidate #13) won the Miss World Philippines 2011 title last night, September 18, at the Philippine International Convention Center or PICC.

A major favorite for the Miss World Philippines 2011 crown, Gwendolyn bested 24 other candidates, including the other big favorites such as Binibining Pilipinas 2010 2nd Runner Up Nicolette Henson and Kapamilya Deal or No Deal 26k Girls member Martha Chloe McCulley.

All three of them actually landed in the Top 3, as what Mykiru has predicted. (Mykiru correctly guessed 9 out of the 12 semi-finalists)

It's interesting to note that both Gwendolyn and Nicolette joined Binibining Pilipinas 2010, where Nicolette, as mentioned above, was 2nd Runner Up while Gwendolyn was only a Top 10 semi-finalist.

Bianca Paz, who got disqualified in Binibining Pilipinas 2011 pageant due to a photo scandal, finished in 4th place (3rd Runner Up).

The Top 5 finalists were actually all Binibining Pilipinas alumnae: Gwendolyn - Binibining Pilipinas 2010 Top 10 Semi-Finalist, Nicolette - Bb. Pilipinas 2010 2nd Runner Up, Martha - Bb. Pilipinas 2011 candidate, Bianca - Binibining Pilipinas 2011 candidate but got disqualified and Jaysel Arrozal - Bb. Pilipinas 2008 Top 10.

Loucelle De Jesus won the People's Choice Award (via text voting) and got an automatic slot in the Top 12.

Shamcey Supsup comments on the Oprah Winfrey Rumor

Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup gamely answered questions from the media people who went to her press conference held Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the Americana in Glendale, California.

Shamcey Supsup commented on the issue that Oprah Winfrey reportedly said in a statement via NBC that Shamcey should have won during the Miss Universe 2011 pageant held Monday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Shamcey only finished 3rd Runner Up during the pageant despite nailing the Q&A portion.

Miss Angola Leila Lopes won the Miss Universe 2011 title.

She arrived in Manila early morning today, Sunday, September 18, 2011.

Mayweather vs Ortiz Result: Mayweather wins vs Ortiz via TKO in 4th Round

Floyd Mayweather Jr remains undefeated when he won vs Victor Ortiz during Saturday night's WBC welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (Sunday morning, Manila time).

The "Mayweather vs Ortiz" bout was no ordinary fight (but not surprising) as 34-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr knocked out Victor Ortiz, who's 10 years younger, during the 4th round of the fight (4th Round TKO).

It was Mayweather's grand comeback on the ring after 16 months of rest (and just watching Manny Pacquiao's fights?)

Floyd Mayweather Jr now has 42 wins (26 are knockout wins) and 0 losses while Victor Ortiz's new record is 29 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws with 22 knockouts.

Watch a Youtube video of how Floyd Mayweather Jr knocked out Victor Ortiz in 4th Round:

It was an amazing knockout but many were not impressed with how Mayweather did it, especially that he did it immediately after he and Ortiz emerged from a break, and the latter wasn't ready yet to resume the fight.

Mayweather reportedly got booed by the audience after he knocked out Ortiz.

During the post-fight interview, Mayweather also had an argument with the 80-year-old commentator Larry Merchant. Watch!

Enrique Gil shows off underwear at Cosmo Bachelor Bash 2011

Enrique Gil had a great time teasing the predominantly female (and gay) audience at the Cosmo Bachelor Bash 2011 held Thursday night, September 15, 2011, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

For the first time ever, Enrique walked down the ramp shirtless, showed off his sexy whitey underwear and made a daring tease, something he never did before.

Enrique was the night's finale and the most applauded among the Cosmo Centerfold hunks.

Miss Universe 2011 Finals - Replay Video

The Miss Universe 2011 finals was held September 12, 2011 at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Miss Angola Leila Lopes as the winner, the first ever from Angola and the 4th African woman to be crowned Miss Universe.

Hosted by Andy Cohen (Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live") and Natalie Morales (NBC's "Today"), the Miss Universe 2011 finals, which also happened to be the pageant's 60th anniversary, started with the introduction of the 89 lovely candidates.

Miss USA 2004 (and Miss Universe 2004 1st Runner Up) Shandi Finnessey and STYLE Network’s Jeannie Mai served as commentators.

The announcement of the Top 16 semi-finalists followed. The Top 16 were: (in order of announcement) France, Kosovo, Colombia, China, Angola, Australia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Netherlands, USA, Ukraine, Panama, Costa Rica, Portugal, Philippines and Venezuela.

While Miss Portugal was called to join the Top 16, the commentators announced that she's the one who won the online fan voting conducted at missuniverse.com which secured her a slot in the semis. It was the first time in Miss Universe history that a semi-finalist was selected by the fans via online voting.

A big favorite, Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup was still shocked to hear her name being called as one of the semi-finalists. Commentators took notice of that and described her as "humble".

The judges who were given the toughest job of selecting this year's Miss Universe included: 3-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helios Castroneves, Actress-Producer Vivica A. Fox, Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Adrienne Maloof, Houston hair care magnet Farouk Shami, Brazilian supermodel Isabeli Fontana, CONCACAF Deputy Secretary General Italo Zanzi, US Broadcast Legend Connie Chung and Tony-winning actress Lea Salonga. Lea was also introduced as the voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney's "Aladdin".

After the introduction of judges, it was announced that Miss Panama Sheldry Saez won the Best National Costume award.

Top 10 Best National Costume: 1. Panama 2. Mexico 3. Thailand 4. Venezuela 5. Curacao 6. Trinidad & Tobago 7. Tanzania 8. Bolivia 9. Nigeria 10. Japan

Then the Top 16 competed in swimsuits and the Top 10 were announced who later competed in their evening gowns. The Top 10 were: Australia, Costa Rica, France, Ukraine, Portugal, Panama, Philippines, Angola, China and Brazil.

The Top 5 finalists were revealed (Ukraine, Philippines, China, Brazil, Angola) and they had to deal with the grueling Question and Answer Portion.

Miss Angola was crowned winner with Miss Ukraine as 1st Runner Up, Brazil as 2nd Runner Up, Philippines as 3rd Runner Up and China as the 4th Runner Up.

If you failed to watch the Miss Universe 2011 finals, here's a video replay of the pageant as presented by nbc.com's Pageant Life. (Direct link: http://www.nbc.com/pageant-life/miss-usa/video/Miss-Universe-2011/1354720)

Leila Lopes, Miss Angola, is Miss Universe 2011 winner

Miss Angola Leila Lopes has just been crowned Miss Universe 2011!

Miss Angola Leila Lopes (Miss Angola) reacts after being named Miss Universe 2011 winner (Screenshot from Ao Vivo's live broadcast)

Angola's Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011 during the live pageant finale held Monday, September 12, 2011, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Though already one of the favorites, no one predicted Miss Angola Leila Lopes to end up as Miss Universe 2011 winner, but thanks to her great performance during the finals, especially during the final Q & A.

Miss Angola was able to beat 88 other lovely candidates, including mega favorites Ukraine (who finished 1st Runner Up), Philippines (3rd Runner Up) and China (4th Runner Up).

This is the first time that Angola has won the Miss Universe title.

Angola started participating in Miss Universe only in 1998 and only had 3 semi-finalists before winning the prestigious Miss Universe 2011 title.

Shamcey Supsup, 3rd Runner Up, Miss Universe 2011

Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup finished 3rd Runner Up in the just-concluded Miss Universe 2011 pageant held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

As Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up, Shamcey Supsup was able to place higher than our last year's rep Venus Raj who finished 4th Runner Up.

Congrats Shamcey! The whole Philippines is so proud of you.

I believe though that she should have placed higher than 3rd Runner Up for giving an impressive answer during the final Q&A.

During the Q&A portion, Shamcey was asked with the question "Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person that you love? Why or why not?", she answered: "If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person that I love is God who created me and I have my faith and my principles and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God too."

Watch a video of Shamcey Supsup during the Miss Universe 2011 Q&A portion:

Last year, Venus finished 4th Runner Up only probably because of her not so impressive answer during the final Q & A, but for this year, Shamcey did so well during the interview portion and yet, a 3rd Runner Up placement is the highest she could reach in the pageant.

This just means that even if a Miss Universe candidate gives the best and most impressive answer during the final Q & A, it's not always a guarantee that she'll get the title. It's still based on to whom the judges and the Miss Universe Organization want to give the title.

But I must admit, the competition was really tough and the top winners, Angola and Ukraine, deserved their placements.

Star Magic Ball 2011 photo

PREVIOUS UPDATES:
Controversial teen actor Albie Casiño will still be part of the 5th Star Magic Ball this coming Saturday, September 3, 2011.

Albie's mom Rina Casiño herself confirmed it on Twitter last Tuesday that Albie will be attending the Star Magic Ball 2011 and in fact, he has been rehearsing already for the cotillion to be participated in by selected Star Magic talents.

Mrs. Casiño didn't reveal yet who's going to be Albie's date this Saturday (definitely it's not Kathryn Bernardo nor Andi Eigenmann haha).

She also revealed that Albie has been busy shooting a new movie entitled "Aswang" under Regal Films.

Aside from Albie, "Aswang" also stars Lovi Poe, Paulo Avelino, Jillian Ward, Joem Bascon, Niña Jose, Marc Abaya and Precious Lara Quigaman.

The movie is set for Halloween 2011 release.

This month of September is actually loaded with lots of Albie aside from attending the Star Magic Ball and shooting for a new movie.

He's also among Candy Magazine's 100 Cuties for 2011, as featured on its September 2011 issue and he's also joining the Candy Cuties Fair on September 24.

Albie also has a strong chance of ranking on top of Candy's Celeb Cuties for 2011 this October and a new teleserye is a possibility this last quarter of the year.

Despite the controversies, which led to his removal from the cast of "Way Back Home" movie and not being included in "Growing Up" (which premieres this Sunday, September 4), fans need not worry 'coz Albie is not going nowhere.

Albie is here to stay and definitely needs continuous support from the fans.
