The 8 official entries for the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2011) happening this December were announced today, June 17, 2011, by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

And the excitement doesn't end up there: husband and wife Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos, whose movies "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo" were the Festival Topgrosser during MMFF 2006 and MMFF 2007 respectively, are very much back in the festival with "My Househusband".

GenSan's True Colors is Showtime Season 3 Grand Champion / Winner

Another GenSan pride emerged as Grand Champion on ABS-CBN's talent program "Showtime".

The Showtime Season 3: All-Star Barangayan Grand Finals was held this morning, May 14, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City and proclaimed as grand winner was the group "True Colors" from General Santos City.

The group is now the 2nd from GenSan to win on Showtime. The first was Season 1 grand winner XB GenSan.

"True Colors" got a near-perfect final score of 9.92, with all judges except one gave a perfect 10. The group won P1 million cash prize plus another million peso cash for Barangay West Dadiangas in GenSan, the barangay they're representing in the show.

Watch a video of True Colors' winning performance on Showtime:
Here's the final and official results for Showtime Season 3 Grand Finals:

1. True Colors from Barangay West Dadiangas, General Santos City 9.92 - Grand Champion
2. Vision 20 from Brgy. Sinalhan, Sta. Rosa, Laguna 9.83
3. Yuri Crew from Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental 9.75
3. The Next Level Octomix Dancers from Brgy. Libis, Baesa, Caloocan City 9.75
5. Negros Dance Collective from Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental 9.67
6. Street Noise from Brgy. Poblacion, Guihulngan, Negros Oriental 9.38
7. Artist Youth of the Philippines from Brgy. Bulac, Sta. Maria, Bulacan 8.67
8. Cool Guyz from Brgy. San Miguel, Majayjay, Laguna 8.58
9. Asian Pride from Brgy. Old Zaniga, Mandaluyong City 8.46
10. Tribos Humanikas from Brgy. 176 Bagong Silang, Caloocan City 8.25
11. BTLA Kids from Brgy. 185 Zone 16, Malaria, Caloocan City 8.08
12. Anonymous Edition from Brgy. Palangoy Binangonan, Rizal 8.00

The "Best Intro" award was given to Brgy. Poblacion, Guihulngan, Negros Oriental who cheered for Street Noise. They won a cash prize of P100,000.

"True Colors" was able to make it to Twitter's trending topics in the Philippines but the groups "Yuri Crew" and "Negros Dance Collective" who finished 3rd and 5th respectively were among the trending topics on Twitter not only in the Philippines but also worldwide.

I'm actually rooting ever since for Negros Dance Collective coz their performance was something new and of world-class caliber. What the group did was something you would love to watch over and over again.

I think including kids on the judges' line-up was a bad idea.

Judge Vice Ganda and host Kim Atienza revealed after the grand finals which group they actually loved to win and it's Negros Dance Collective.

True Color's victory as Showtime Season 3 Grand Champion just shows that GenSan is indeed the home of champions. Boxing champs Manny Pacquiao and Nonito Donaire Jr, PBB Big winner Melai Cantiveros, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2011 Shamcey Supsup and Showtime's Season 1 Grand Champion are all from GenSan.

***

LAST GROUP GOT A SCORE OF 1 FROM JUDGE XIAN LIM
While the scores were being shown, a score of 1 was shown coming from judge Xian Lim for the group "Street Noise".

The said score pulled down the group's final average score, which when computed resulted to 9.375.

Though Street Noise won't win even if it was a score of 10, the group still didn't deserve to be given a score of 1.

Vice Ganda defended his crush Xian Lim on Twitter for the latter's controversial score. According to Vice, it was a system error.

vicegandako: "10 ang totoong score ni @XianLimm dun sa isang group. System error kaya 1 lang ang lumabas sa monitor. Wala syang kasalanan."

And since coming from Vice it was supposed to be 10, Street Noise's score should have been 9.75, tied in 3rd place with Yuri Crew and The Next Level Octomix Dancers.

If it was a system error or there was a possibility of a system error, then it's also possible that there were also errors in the scores for other groups.

Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco reveal their favorite position

Melai Cantiveros loves to be on top of his boyfriend Jason Francisco.

At least on these pictures...

According to @GlobalMelasons on Twitter, the first photo was taken while on the set of "Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Mana Po" topbilled by Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco.

The second photo is for Bench Summer 2011: Return To Temptation Catalog available on its website.

But Jason, a man that he is, of course also loves to be on top of Melai on these pictures, which are actually scenes from "PHR: Mana Po".

Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Mana Po is coming very soon on ABS-CBN.

Supporting cast includes Megan Young, Tom Rodriguez, John Arcilla, Buboy Garovillo, Soliman Cruz, RR Enriquez, Giselle Sanchez, Josef Elizalde, Gileth Sandico and Ms. Rachel Lobangco in her acting comeback.

"Happy, Yipee, Yehey!" premieres February 12 on ABS-CBN

"Happy, Yipee, Yehey!" is the title of ABS-CBN's newest noontime show, which premieres next Saturday, February 12, 2011.Do you like the
title "Happy, Yipee, Yehey!" or not?Whoever thought of "Happy, Yipee, Yehey!" probably just
celebrated his birthday or any joyous celebration. Or he probably drew
inspiration from Wowowee's "Hep Hep Hooray!"

But it's just a title, and the viewers are still after the "content"
of the show.

ABS-CBN's 5-month noontime show "Pilipinas Win Na Win" had a nice-sounding title, but it wasn't successful. So maybe, "Happy,
Yipee, Yehey" which is most suited as a title for a children show could spell success for ABS-CBN.

I'm actually feeling positive that it will be a hit to the viewers, especially with the exciting line-up of hosts.

"Happy, Yipee, Yehey!" will be hosted by Randy Santiago, John Estrada, Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga plus Melai Cantiveros, Bianca
Manalo, Bentong and Youtube sensation Kuya Jobert (Banana Split, Usapang Lalake).

Happy, Yipee, Yehey! Hosts

[Oh sad! I thought Sam Milby will be part of this show.]

This marks the return to noontime hosting of Randy, John, Mariel and Toni while it's a first for Melai and Bianca.

Bentong, I think, should be crowned "King of Noontime Show" 'coz he's always been part of an ABS-CBN noontime. He was also in Magandang Tanghali Bayan, Masayang Tanghali Bayan, Wowowee
and Pilipinas Win Na Win.

Video: Melai Cantiveros burns Mr. Fu's picture on "Banana Split"

ABS-CBN's "Banana Split" and its star Melai Cantiveros have offended TV5 host Mr. Fu, who's popular for his trademark expression "Meganon?" or "May ganun?".

I was able to watch the said Banana Split's New Year's Day episode last Saturday wherein Melai was giving the viewers the things to leave behind from the past year (2010).

One of those things was Mr. Fu's "Meganon". It was written on a paper with Mr. Fu's photo on the background, then Melai burnt it.

Also included in those that Melai burnt was the "Kimerald", the already resolved "conflict between Sharon Cuneta and Aga Muhlach", and the still unresolved "Cristine Reyes-Rayver Cruz-Sarah Geronimo" issue.

I actually never thought that it will offend those involved and become a major controversy.

I'm not just sure if the Kimeralds are also offended. Are you guys?

On SNN last night, Melai defended herself by saying that she was just following what was written on her script.

Watch the video of the said episode and tell us what you think about it:

Melai Cantiveros to judge on Showtime today

Funny Melai Cantiveros will be on Showtime today, not to dance again with XB GenSan, but to sit as a special judge.

It's indeed one special Monthly Finals of Showtime with Melai as a judge (only for today) as she takes the place of resident hurado Vice Ganda who's currently in the US for his "Ang Ganda Diva?" concert tour with Lani Misalucha.

Can you imagine the riot and the fun Melai will bring in the show? We at home are all excited to watch today's episode.

This weekend's mornings actually belong to Melai. Aside from Showtime,
she'll also be in "Matanglawin" tomorrow morning.

The guy with Melai Cantiveros

Melai Cantiveros is pictured here with a guy who kinda looks like his boyfriend, Jason Francisco.

The guy is Lawrence Manalo, an indie film actor. He appeared in the movie Lagpas and soon in Lilay: Darling of the Crowd.

Star Magic Catalogue 2011 Photos: Kimerald, Melason, Enchong Dee & more

Officially launched at The Rockwell yesterday, the Star Magic Catalogue 2011 is now very much available in magazine stores nationwide for P295.

Yes, it costs P295, which is almost a hundred percent increase from last year's price of only P150. But definitely, it's still worth buying.

Check out sample pictures:

Gerald Anderson "The One who Makes it Look Easy"

Kim Chiu "The One who Won our Hearts"

Enchong Dee "The One who's a Role Model"

Carmen Soo "The One with Quiet Strength"

Roxanne Guinoo "The One with a Gentle Smile"

Gigger Boys (Arron Villaflor, AJ Perez, Sam Concepcion, Robi Domingo & Enrique Gil)

One good reason to have the Star Magic Catalogue 2011 is to see your favorite stars who are gracing the mag for the first time and among them are Melai Cantiveros & Jason Francisco.

Aside from Melason, other first-timers in the catalogue are Matteo Guidicelli; Tom Rodriguez & other ex-housemates of PBB Double
Up; PGT's Markki Stroem; A-Pop's Young JV, Nel Gomez & Jaco Benin;
Gimik 2010's Franco Daza and others; Tyron Perez;
JM De Guzman; iDOL's Emmanuelle Vera & Da Vince Code; and child
stars Xyriel Manabat, Izzi Canillo & Bugoy Cariño.

And of course, you'll no longer see there some stars who transfered to
other networks or have switched management such as Claudine Barretto,
Nikki Gil, Ronnie Liang, Carl Guevarra, Krista Sullivan (now Bela Padilla), Chase Rivera (Melmar Magno of XLR8), Kristina Snell (now Princess Snell), Janna Dominguez, Joshua Dionisio & Charlie Green.

Sam Milby and Yeng Constantino sing the official theme song of Star Cinema's upcoming film "I Do", which stars Erich Gonzales, Enchong Dee, Pokwang, Melai Cantiveros and some other.

The theme song is entitled "Kahit Habang Buhay" which was originally performed by 90's group Smokey Mountain.

Here's the music video and you'll love it:

"I Do" opens in theaters on September 29.

Charice on her "Glee" character: Sunshine Corazon is very, very Charice!

If "major, major" is for Venus Raj and "owver, owver" is for Melai Cantiveros, then Charice also has her own and that is "very, very".

Charice graced the premiere party of "Glee Season 2" yesterday in California and at the red carpet, Charice was asked by a reporter about her character (Sunshine Corazon) in the show.

She said: "I'm very, very happy that my character is Sunshine. Sunshine is very, very Charice, simple one, shy type."

And when asked about Lea Michelle, her rival in Glee, Chariced excitingly said, "We're like frenemies, I think that's the word...and we're gonna sing a very, very big song, Lady Gaga and Beyonce. It's 'Telephone'! So, it's gonna be amazing."

It has actually been Charice's habit to stress the word "very". In May 23, during her album launch in Glorietta, Charice told the audience: "I'm sure matutuwa kayo. A lot of people are talking about this thing. Very, very happy ako na naging part ako...ng...ng...eto."

And also last July 23 in Thailand, she was asked by a Filipino reporter about Sam Concepcion, who beat her in "Little Big Star" five years ago and Charice answered: "Well, I'm very, very proud naman sa kanya."

It has become a Filipino way already to stress a word by repeating it twice, as one UP Professor said in an interview before. And there's actually nothing wrong with that.

But some people are already making fun of it, just like during the time when Venus Raj answered "major major" in the Miss Universe 2010 pageant. (Search "Charice very very" on Twitter. She's also trending there now.).

The said interview with Charice at the red carpet premiere party for Glee was shown on TV Patrol tonight and I was so much impressed with the way she talked. She conversed so well and sounded so good in an American accent. Keep it up Charice!

The 2nd season of Glee premieres September 21, 2010.

Melai Cantiveros is Inday Bote on "Wansapanataym"

Melai Cantiveros plays "Inday Bote" in the return of Wansapanataym on ABS-CBN.

I love that show. It was my favorite Sunday show on ABS-CBN when I was a kiddie. And it brings more excitement that the lovable Melai Cantiveros will be starring on its debut episode this September 5.

Why is Melai not with Jason Francisco again? First, Melai gone solo in an episode on MMK and for Wansapanataym: Inday Bote, Melai is paired to hunks Rayver Cruz and Jon Avila. Ganda mo Melai!

Wansapanataym: Inday Bote also stars Johan Santos, Cathy Remperas, Joy Viado, Amy Nobleza and Chokoleit.

ASAP XV holds "Miss Universe" pageant | Kanto Boys does Bieber

ABS-CBN's ASAP XV had a very funny episode today, August 15, 2010, when it held its own Miss Universe pageant.

The exotic Miss Kenya Melai Cantiveros was extremely...funny! And the other girls as well...such as: Pokwang as Miss Nepal, Cristine Reyes as Miss Chile, Nikki Gil as Miss Philippines, Sitti as Miss Ghana, Shaina Magdayao as Miss Hungary, Iya Villania as Miss Egypt, Karylle as Miss Russia and Anne Curtis as Miss Venezuela.

I super loved it!

Watch video:

In the same episode, the Kanto Boys did a medley of Justin Bieber songs. And they even imitated Bieber's hair. Hilarious number! Because of that, "Kanto Boys" at one point was #4 trending topic on Twitter.

Here's their video:

Melai Cantiveros on Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) this August 7, 2010

After an impressive acting showcase in "Impostor", Melai Cantiveros moves to a higher-level drama in the next episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), her very first for the longest-running drama anthology in the country.

This August 7, 2010, Melai Cantiveros stars in another heartwarming offering of MMK, which is still part of its 19th Anniversary Celebration.

Starring with Melai are two of the best young actors today, Ryan Eigenmann and Ketchup Eusebio.

PBB Magazine Cover: Melai Cantiveros and Kim Chiu

Si Melai, ka-level na ni Kim?

Pinoy Big Brother Magazine: Melai and Kim

PBB Double Up Big Winner Melai Cantiveros and PBB Teen Edition winner Kim Chiu are both on the latest cover of Pinoy Big Brother Magazine (Limited Edition).

It just goes to show that Melai is leveling herself now with Kim.

But that's not the case between Jason Francisco and Gerald Anderson,
who are also pictured on the left portion of PBB Mag.

I don't want to make an issue out of it, but I'm wondering why Gerald looks like a background only to Jason there. Maybe, the mag's
editorial staff didn't mean anything, but it would be better if they're placed side by side.

Also featured in the mag are Paul Jake Castillo and the PBB Teen Clash 2010 housemates. Look! Fretzie, Bret, Ivan and Ryan are on the cover.
But not James. How sad!

The issue is out now. Go and get a copy!

Willie vs Jobert and Vice Ganda vs Tado highlighted the month of May, but still, a story about Anne Curtis in Boracay was the most popular last month. It also topped in March and April.

Also in the Top 20 were my latest posts about Markk Stroem, Daniel Matsunaga, Enchong Dee and PBB's past and present housemates such as Melason, Johan Santos, Robert James Reid, Jovic Susim and Bret Jackson.

Male pageants such as Mister Universe Model and Ginoong Filipinas were also hot items.
