34th Gawad Urian Awards (2011) winners

The winners for the 34th Gawad Urian Awards were announced tonight, May 17, 2011, at the Marriott Hotel in Resorts World Manila.

The 34th Gawad Urian Awards has over a hundred nominees competing in only 14 categories.

Rosanna Roces won as Best Supporting Actress for "Presa". It's already her 2nd Urian Award. She previously won as Best Actress for "La Vida Rosa" in 2001.

Joem Bascon got his first Urian award this year as Best Supporting Actor for "Noy".

The Best Actress trophy went to indie film actress Fe GingGing Hyde for the film "Sheika" while Sid Lucero won his 2nd Best Actor award from Urian.

Sid previously won in Urian for the gay-themed indie film "Selda" 3 years ago and he won again this year for another gay indie movie, the Adolf Alix film "Muli".

In "Muli", Sid portrayed a gay role and did some love scenes with Cogie Domingo. Sid posted on Twitter last July 2010 that it's already hist LAST gay role.

Last month, Sid also won for the same gay role during the 8th Enpress Awards.

Sid probably will change his mind now and will accept more gay roles since that's what gives him more acting honors.

Here's the list of winners in the 34th Gawad Urian (2011):

Marian Rivera gets the most daring role in 'Temptation Island'

Marian Rivera, Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe and Solenn Heussaff lead the cast of "Temptation Island" which will start shooting this month, April 2011.

And Marian reportedly has the most daring role of all, a role which was originally portrayed by Azenith Briones in the 80's version of the film.

When asked about it yesterday on Showbiz Central, Marian said it will be her first time to play such kind of role. "Talagang na-cha-challenge ako na gawin ito, kasi for the first time ko lang gagawin itong character na ito. Pero at least nakausap ko naman si Direk na gagawin ko sya na hindi naman as Azenith, hindi naman ibig sabihin na sobrang kokopyahin ko sya, gagawin ko pa rin as Marian pa rin."

Here's a video of the cast during the presscon for the film, as featured yesterday on Showbiz Central:

Playing their leading men are Aljur Abrenica, Joem Bascon, Paulo Avelino and Tom Rodriguez.

Temptation Island 2011 will be directed by Cris Martinez.

Movie Trailer: "White House" - a horror flick from Regal Films

Three days after "Mamarazzi" opened in theaters, Regal Entertainment, Inc. has already released the movie trailer of its next offering, entitled "White House", topbilled by Gabby Concepcion.

Though it's like a combination of some of Regal's horror films in the past, "White House" is still interesting to watch. The trailer is already terrifying and freaky intense.

Is this Gabby's first ever horror film? If yes, then it's extra exciting!

Joining Gabby in the film are Iza Calzado, Lovi Poe, Joem Bascon, Janus del Prado, Megan Young, Mo Twister, Sarah Lahbati, Jairus Aquino, Lui Villaruz, Angel Jacob and Maricar Reyes.

Is it DJ Mo's first ever movie? Oh well, he's still speaking so much English here.

"White House" opens in October in time for Halloween 2010 and is directed by Topel Lee, who helmed "Ouija", "Sundo" and three episodes in "Shake, Rattle & Roll" movies.

Skinny Dipping Scene in "Rekrut" - Official Entry in the Cinemalaya 2010

JM De Guzman, Joem Bascon, Dominic Roco

As I've told you before, "Rekrut" is my top favorite of all the Cinemalaya 2010 entries.

The reason? Hehe it has lots of men... Joem Bascon, Dominic Roco, Alwyn Uytingco, JM De Guzman, Alchris Galura, CJ Ramos, Manuel Chua Jr, Rob Sy and many more.

Thus, it's a lot exciting to catch their "skinny dipping scene" where they're all fully naked.

I hope you could find time to watch it from July 10 to 18.

Screening Schedule (Dates and Venues):
July 10, 6:00 PM, Bulwagang Alagad Ng Sining (CCP MKP Hall)
July 11, 3:30 PM, Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theatre)

July 14, 12:45 PM, Bulwagang Alagad Ng Sining (CCP MKP Hall)
July 16, 9:00 PM, Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theatre) - GALA NIGHT

ABS-CBN's 2010 Summer Station ID to be launched tomorrow

Tomorrow, March 21, is one hot Summer Sunday on ABS-CBN.

The ABS-CBN's Summer Station ID for 2010 featuring of course more than 200 stars of the network will be launched tomorrow.

It will be launched on ASAP XV which will have its exciting live presentation from Fairways and Bluewater, New Coast in Boracay.

The theme song of the new Summer Station ID is "Summer Ang Simula" sung by Callalily's Kean Cipriano and Yeng Constantino.

After ASAP XV, the summer special of Your Song Presents entitled "Isla" will air its first episode.

It stars Gerald Anderson and the PBB Double Up ex-housemates.

Here are teaser photos from the said Summer Station ID:

Piolo Pascual

'Tanging Yaman' boys Enchong Dee, Matt Evans and Ejay Falcon

'Habang May Buhay' stars Joem Bascon, Derek Ramsay and Will Devaughn

Banana Split's Zanjoe Marudo (center) with Jayson Gainza and Pooh

'Rubi' leading men Diether Ocampo and Jake Cuenca

John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin, stars of an upcoming soap tentatively titled "Sumpa ng Pag-ibig"

***

How true that John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao have been in Boracay already way ahead of the other ASAP stars? Hmmmm....

Is it also true that the reason why Party Pilipinas' premiere has been moved to March 28 is for the show to get away from that Boracay episode of ASAP? Believable...

Joem Bascon is Men's Health Guy for September 2009

Men's Health Philippines features "Bud Brothers" star Joem Bascon as its cover guy for its September 2009 issue...

Joem, who turns 23 today (August 29), was last seen as Pete on ABS-CBN's Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Bud Brothers, which successfully ended yesterday.

Apart from that, Joem has become one of the busiest indie actors this year.

For 2009 alone, he made four indie movies: Walang Hanggang Paalam, Karera, Sanglaan and Panahon Na.

He is also one of Cosmo's Top 10 Centerfolds for 2009 as featured in its latest issue, also this September 2009.

Cosmo Centerfolds 2009: Gerald Anderson, Aljur Abrenica and more...

Gerald Anderson (Tayong Dalawa, Tiagong Akyat) is extremely hot as he leads Cosmopolitan Magazine's Top 10 Celebrity Centerfolds for 2009.

Gerald along with 9 other burnin' hot men are featured in the annual Cosmo Men issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine.

It is Gerald's first time to be included in the mag's centerfolds and much more, his first time to be chosen as the cover guy.

How to capture Gerald Anderson? Cosmo says, "Capture Gerald Anderson by...being fresh-faced and donning a 'nice dress.' Then, 'make the first move' but give him the reigns to sweep you off your feet."

Joining Gerald in Cosmo Centerfolds are:

Starstruck 4 Ultimate Hunk and All My Life star Aljur Abrenica
Here's what the 19-year-old actor has to say about love: "Loving involves a lot of decision-making. But, I love hard."

Bud Brothers star Joem Bascon
"Joem Bascon turns up the heat for his second Cosmo Men appearance! Be his femme fatale and bring on "the chains and whip," then draw him in with your eyes and enigmatic presence."

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus winner and Katorse star Ejay Falcon
Ejay's quotable quote: "Hindi lahat ng guys manloloko."

Another Katorse star Xian Lim
"Take this model/actor now: Flirt with subtle hair flips, and wear sexy-yet-safe threads to leave some for his healthy imagination"

Brapanese model Daniel Matsunaga
"Lure this hot model with your naughty-girl moves--he'll love you for it!"

Celebrity Duets Season 3 contestant and also a Brapanese model Akihiro Sato
Here's what the 19-year-old actor has to say about love: "Loving involves a lot of decision-making. But, I love hard."

Dahil May Isang Ikaw star Sid Lucero
"Hook this hottie in by staying true to yourself. He wants a comfy cowgirl who can "handle herself in any situation."

Pinoy Sole Survivor and Unang Hirit host JC Tiuseco
"How can a girl win the heart of Survivor Philippines' first Ultimate Survivor? By unapologetically "staring at me and flashing me a sweet smile," he reveals."

Soccer star Phil Younghusband

Joem was already part of the Cosmo Centerfolds 2007 while Akihiro was in Cosmo Centerfolds last year.

"Cosmo Men" also features the 69 Hunky Bachelors for 2009.

The 10 Centerfolds and the 69 Bachelors will all be part of the much-anticipated Cosmo Bachelor Bash on September 10, 2009 at the NBC Tent.

The Cosmo Men is a supplement in the September 2009 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine with Rosalinda star Carla Abellana on the cover.

***

Once again, Piolo Pascual, Diether Ocampo and Sam Milby have been snubbed by Cosmo to be part of the Centerfolds.

I was also hoping to see there JC De Vera, Rayver Cruz and Coco Martin.

Indie cinema's pride Kristoffer King

Kristoffer King, who gone controversial in the movies Serbis and Showboyz, is really getting good breaks by starring in great indie films since 2004.

Kristofer has made a mark in indie films for having no inhibitions, especially with his erotic frontal scenes most notably the "real" bj scene in the movie Serbis, Philippines' entry to Cannes 2008.

Aside from Serbis and Showboyz, he starred in a number of critically-acclaimed indie movies such as Babae sa Breakwater, Masahista, Tirador, Nars and Aurora.

Two of which (Babae sa Breakwater and Masahista) earned him nominations from FAMAS and URIAN.

Add to Kristofer's impressive movie portfolio is the soon-to-be-released Karera, which is directed by Adolfo Alix Jr (Donsol, Manila).

***

Karera boasts of a great cast which includes Laurice Guillen, Rosanna Roces, Jay Manalo, Allan Paule, Menggie Cobarrubias, Soliman Cruz, Arnold Reyes, Edgar Allan Guzman, Mercedes Cabral and Joem Bascon.

Joem Bascon

Jay Manalo

Edgar Allan Guzman

Synopsis:

KARERA captures a day in the life of the Domingo family, which seems to be a microcosm of the Filipino society racing against time and opportunity as they gamble with their personal choices in a series of complicated moral, spiritual, political and social issues.

The mother, LV (Guillen), runs a "bookies" (an illegal horse race betting outlet) in their house. Today, the money she is supposed-to-remit is missing. She struggles to look for the missing money and traces who might get hold of it. Ace (Manalo), LV's eldest, who works as a "sota" (horse caretaker) is torn between pursuing an illegal arrangement with one of the other trainors to injure the horse he takes care of in exchange for a hefty sum of money that he can use for his placement fee. Daisy (Roces), the matriarch's daughter, is running away from policemen after an arrangement that she needs to pinpoint all the other illegal karera outlets to spare her family. Bingo (Bascon), their youngest, is impatiently waiting for his girlfriend to have sex with him after a bet with his friends.

What happens is a raw and gritty drama of human survival.
