Michael Manansala, new candidate for Mister International Philippines 2009

Michael 'Mike' Manansala (left), a 23-year-old model from Quezon City, has replaced Francis 'Chit' Soo (right), a Registered Nurse, as one of the official candidates of Mister International Philippines 2009.

The replacement happened when Chit backed out yesterday when he learned of his grandmother's death.

MIP President Michael Lim issued an official statement today concerning the recent development on the pageant. It said: "Candidate No. 16 Francis Soo had to fly to Davao because his grandma passed away. He will be replaced by Michael Manansala."

Mike Manansala is a worthy replacement though.

Mike, who stands 6'2", has been modeling for 2 years already. He has modeled for different fashion shows such as that of Fly Shades (the one being endorsed by Anne Curtis), Nissan Car Show and many more.

A native of Angeles City, Pampanga, Mike describes himself as a simple, outgoing person.

He loves to work out at the gym, hang out with friends and play basketball.

Apart from winning in Mister International Philippines 2009 and represent the country in an international pageant, this freelance model who looks like Will Devaughn (according to comedian-host John Lapus) also dreams of becoming an actor someday and hopefully be paired with pretty Anne Curtis.
