'Ang Laro ng Buhay ni Juan' showing on October 21

After a successful press preview (director's cut) last night, Joselito Altarejos' Ang Laro ng Buhay ni Juan will hit the Robinsons theaters next week, October 21.

Altarejos was the director of Ang Lihim ni Antonio and Ang Lalake Sa Parola, and notice the trend: "Ang Lihim", "Ang Lalake" and now "Ang Laro."

What do you think is next? Ang Libog ni Jory? (Hi Jory!)

Seriously...

The movie's official site says:

Two-hour “Ang Laro ng Buhay ni Juan” explores the last day and night in the big city of live s-x worker Juan (Ray An Dulay) who is forced to go back to his small town in Masbate. The film will take you to Juan’s hole-in-the-wall shelter where you will meet various characters in his life like Mercy (Angeli Bayani, Cinemanila 2008 Asian Best Actress) and lover Noel (Nico Antonio).

Juan will allow you to peep in the underground gay bar Inner Sanctum which offers live s-x as an added attraction. Here in-demand callboy/toro Badong (Ace Ricafort) bares and shows all. You can blink your eyes for what he and the rest of the live s-x workers do as they are long-ish scenes. But Juan’s last show is disrupted by raiders (Richard Quan and Perry Escano). Will he be able to escape to make his exit to the province? The film ponders the question: Is fate in our hands?

Playing a gay role for the first time is Star Magic talent and VOIZboys member Nico Antonio.

In a recent interview with PEP, he says that he was once a homophobic.

"Yung pagiging gay, parang first time ko pa po. Parang it broaden my horizons, my comfort zone. Talagang dati, homophobic ako. Takot ako sa bakla," Nico told PEP.

"Evenutually, noong mag-theater ako, naindintihan ko na. Meron pa nga, naghahalikan sa harapan ko. Halikan talaga to the max. Minsan, sabi nila, nagse-s-x daw sila sa banyo. Nagse-s-x sila sa kung saan-saan. Tapos yung naging girlfriend ko pa sa theater, baklang babae. So, mas na-expose ako sa gay community, gay culture. So, okey na po sa akin," he added.

The film is produced by BeyondTheBox Productions.
