UAAP Season 73 Finals Game 1: Ateneo Blue Eagles beat FEU Tamaraws, with 72-49

Both the ADMU (Ateneo) Blue Eagles and FEU Tamaraws were agressive during Game 1 of the UAAP Season 73 Finals held this afternoon at the Araneta Coliseum.

But Ateneo proved too strong for FEU as they dominated all quarters of the game and finished with a big 23-lead.

The final scores were 49-72 with Ateneo's Kirk Long as the Best Player scoring 14 points.

Points earned in every quarter:
1st Q: FEU 8, ADMU 26
2nd Q: FEU 13, ADMU 16
3rd Q: FEU 17, ADMU 18
4th Q: FEU 11, ADMU 12

It was a major major disappointment on the part of the Tamaraws because they're leading this season, they won over the Eagles in their past 2 games before the finals and sport analysts picked them to win the finals.

But only to show on today's game that they're not yet ready to beat the defending the champion, atleast on Game 1 of the best-of-3 finals and they still have Game 2 happening on Thursday to redeem themselves and prove that they're the best team of the UAAP Season 73.

As I've said in my previous posts, Ateneo already has the championship experience being in the finals for the 3rd straight year now and it won't be easy for FEU to win this year's championship.

"White House" gives way to "Petrang Kabayo"

Regal Films' "White House" has moved its playdate, from October 13 to October 20.

It's a good move by Regal Films to change playdate so it could not clash against Viva Films' "Petrang Kabayo" which will be shown on October 13.

Probably, they've realized that it won't be beneficial to both Pinoy movies if shown on the same date and even if they both believe that their respective movie will perform better than the other in the box office.

But before those two films, Star Cinema's "I Do" will open first in theaters on September 29.

And the big question is: Which of the three films will be a smash hit in the box office and reach the 100-million mark? Or none of them?

Pinoy films are actually suffering low revenues in the box office during the last 4 months.

Six mainstream movies were shown from June to September but none of them finished close to P100M.

The latest movies to be shown are Regal's Mamarazzi and Star Cinema's Sa 'yo Lamang and despite different playdates, both are finding it hard to reach even just the P50-million mark.

Here's the latest ranking of the Filipino films in the 2010 Box-Office: (courtesy of boxofficemojo.com)

With above P100M gross:
1. Miss You Like Crazy
2. Here Comes the Bride
3. You To Me Are Everything

P50M and above but below P100M:
4. Babe, I Love You
5. Paano Na Kaya
6. Hating Kapatid
7. In Your Eyes (as of Sep. 19)
8. Cinco

P10M and above but below P50M:
9. Sa 'yo Lamang (as of Sep. 19)
10. I'll Be There
11. Working Girls
12. Mamarazzi (as of Sep. 19)

Below P10M:
13. Noy
14. Emir

Angel Locsin denies "Tau Gamma" and "Chito Miranda"

The beautiful Angel Locsin made two denials last night: one is about her alleged Tau Gamma Sigma membership and the other one is her
rumored romance with Chito Miranda.

Is Angel Locsin a Triskelion or a member of the Tau Gamma Sigma sorority?

Tau Gamma Phi fraternity and Tau Gamma Sigma sorority are about to
celebrate their 42nd grand anniversary this October 2010 and January 2011 respectively. And allegedly, Angel Locsin as a member is included in the Tau Gamma bulletin posted in schools about the nearing
anniversary.

On Twitter, someone with the username @AprilovesU informed Angel
(@143redangel) about it. "Sa school namin may bulletin board ang Tau
Gamma at may celebration silang something ganun...andun ka po may nakalagay."

Actor Jiro Manio, who's labeled as a Tau Gamma baby, greeted Angel later on his tweet: "@143redangel hi ate gel advance happy anniv".

Angel, whose ex-boyfriends Oyo Sotto and Luis Manzano are Tau Gamma Phi members, cleared it up and denied being a member of a sorority
group. She tweets: "May mga bumabati sakin ng happy anniversary...Clear ko lang po, hindi po ako member ng kahit na anong sorority baka isipin nagfi-feeling ako, hehe."

Okay! So probably let's just believe Angel!

But there's one thing that still some people could not believe...that she and Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda are just friends.

Despite insisting they're just friends, the rumor that they're an item hasn't ended yet especially that she and Chito made the same tweets at the same time last night, as in tweets and not re-tweets.

Both Angel and Chito asked their followers to vote for their friend Neil Arce at Baller Magazine site and for Parokya Ni Edgar's song
"Pakiusap Lang" on MYX. Read their tweets:

143redangel:
"Huge favor! pls vote for Neil Arce thanks guys! :) "http://ballermagazine.com/Baller_Award_2.html"

"Sa pang favor guys, sorry :-P pls vote din "pakiusap lang" by PNE! :)
just type "myx vote pakiusap lang" then send to 2366 :) thanks! :)"

"Super thank you sa mga bumoto sa friends ko."

chitomirandajr: "http://ballermagazine.com/Baller_Award_2.html" pls vote for our buddy neil arce!!!"

"Salamat sa mga nag-vote sa friend ko :) eto nagbabakasali lang...can you vote for our video? send "myx vote pakiusap lang" to 2366 thanks."

And those tweets were posted at the same time last night, which could mean they were together at that moment or they mutually agreed to post it together. It was as if only one person is making those tweets.

Another Twitter user (HolyArgel) noticed the two's same tweets and said, "@143redangel yan din ang tweet ni @chitomirandajr may something nga."

Already "pikon" of the endless intrigue linking them, Angel and Chito both answered back.

Angel: "Ano bawal makipagkaibigan? Lahat may something? Ay sus @HolyArgel"

Chito: "@HolyArgel Kawawa ka naman, lahat gusto mo lagyan ng malisya :("

It didn't sound good to HolyArgel and tweeted back: "@143redangel ang taray mo na sa mga fans mo ha...Sige ikaw yan eh"

We can't blame HolyArgel and other people to conclude something because Angel and Chito are the ones starting the issue and make other
people think that way.

If they don't want to be intrigued as lovers, then maybe they should also stop making the same tweets at the same time.

Bye Bye Buwi! Buhawi Meneses, 3rd castoff on Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown

Parokya ni Edgar bassist Buhawi "Buwi" Meneses has been voted off from
Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown.

As shown tonight on GMA 7, Magan tribe leader Buwi Meneses was the unanimous choice to leave the island by his 3 remaining members Elma Muros, Mico
Aytona and Solenn Heussaff.

Buwi said in his interview after the elimination that they probably considered him a big threat in the competition. Was
he really?

He's now the 3rd castoff of the season after Doc Ferdz Recio and Mykah Flores, who were also from Magan tribe.

For sure, many followers of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown are happy that Buwi is out of the game. They are those who hated Buwi
during the time when he, as the tribal leader who was given the power to eliminate one member, chose to vote off viewers' fave Doc Ferdz 2 weeks ago.

***

On Mykiru's Poll, Buwi is the least favorite castaway with only 1.56% of the total votes.

The Top 5 favorite castaways in the poll as of today are:

1. Ahron Villena 13.75%
2. Solenn Heussaff 10.63%
3. Akihiro Sato 9.06%
4. Ian Batherson 7.81%
5. Aubrey Miles 7.19%

ABS-CBN's "Imortal" finally premieres this October

After many delays in airing, "Imortal" will finally premiere this October on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida.

But I wonder what it's going to replace - is it Noah or Magkaribal?

The teaser trailer for the characters has been revealed already last Wednesday night before the airing of Magkaribal. Does it mean it's going to replace the Bea Alonzo-Gretchen Barretto soap?

I hope Noah is ending next month and not Magkaribal.

Watch the said teaser:

Isn't it too Twilight-ish? But it looks so much exciting!

Notice also the names of the characters and obviously they derived it from the Bible and names of saints.

Angel Locsin as Lia (derived from Leah, Jacob's wife in the book of Genesis / also from St. Lia or Lea)

John Lloyd Cruz as Mateo (The Gospel of St. Matthew)

Maricar Reyes as Samantha (St. Samantha)

Rico Blanco as Lucas (Gospel of St. Luke)

Jomari Yllana as Roman (Romans, 6th book in the New Testament)

Vivian Velez as Lucille (a saint's name and also derived from Lucius, mentioned in Acts of the Apostles)

Johnny Revilla as Simon (St. Simon Peter, one of the 12 Apostles)

Jake Roxas as Magnus (St. Magnus / Latin for The Great as in Alexander The Great mentioned in the book of Daniel)

and Jaime Fabregas as Abraham (St. Abraham / Abraham, the patriarch of the Israelites)

That continues the tradition in ABS-CBN soaps like Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay (used Russian names), Maging Sino Ka Man (characters' names derived from Philippine Presidents, politicians & national heroes) and Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo (from famous international singers).

UFC Champion Georges St-Pierre mobbed by fans in Manila | He'll be in Showtime today!

French-Canadian UFC Champion Georges "Rush" St-Pierre (GSP) was mobbed by Filipino fans during his welcome party in Manila, Philippines last night.

And he was loving it! In fact, the picture came from him on Twitter and said, "Fans in Manila rock!"

Truly, Pinoy fans (all sexes) love this #1 pound for pound Mixed Martial Arts fighter in the world as evidenced by their warm reception to GSP since he arrived Thursday morning.

GSP is in Manila now to promote MMA to the Filipinos and his upcoming UFC fight on December 11. He actually has a loaded 3-day visit in Manila.

He held a press conference yesterday at a restaurant in ABS-CBN and those who came there could attest that he's so charmingly hot and
"gwapo".

Tv host-actor Luis Manzano, who's into MMA, had to be GSP's #1 fan for
awhile when he got the chance to interview him later for MYX.

He shared pictures of them together and expressed over the top happiness when he finally met his #1 MMA idol.

Gretchen Fullido also interviewed him for Studio 23.

Magic 89.9's Boys Night Out had an interview with him later in the evening and then GSP proceeded to ICON Super Club in Intercon Manila for his welcome party.

Today, Georges St-Pierre was interviewed by Mornings @ANC and later he'll be guesting on ABS-CBN's Showtime as announced by hosts Vhong Navarro and Anne Curtis yesterday.

I'm so much excited for his Showtime guesting. I hope he's gonna do a "sample" for the Madlang Pipol and "party party" with Vice Ganda.

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be GSP's last but big day in Manila as he holds an open MMA training for interested Pinoys. The big event is called "GSP hits Manila: Experience the Rush" to be held 2:30PM at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

Expect a big crowd tomorrow at MOA!
