Mayweather vs Ortiz Result: Mayweather wins vs Ortiz via TKO in 4th Round

Floyd Mayweather Jr remains undefeated when he won vs Victor Ortiz during Saturday night's WBC welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (Sunday morning, Manila time).

The "Mayweather vs Ortiz" bout was no ordinary fight (but not surprising) as 34-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr knocked out Victor Ortiz, who's 10 years younger, during the 4th round of the fight (4th Round TKO).

It was Mayweather's grand comeback on the ring after 16 months of rest (and just watching Manny Pacquiao's fights?)

Floyd Mayweather Jr now has 42 wins (26 are knockout wins) and 0 losses while Victor Ortiz's new record is 29 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws with 22 knockouts.

Watch a Youtube video of how Floyd Mayweather Jr knocked out Victor Ortiz in 4th Round:

It was an amazing knockout but many were not impressed with how Mayweather did it, especially that he did it immediately after he and Ortiz emerged from a break, and the latter wasn't ready yet to resume the fight.

Mayweather reportedly got booed by the audience after he knocked out Ortiz.

During the post-fight interview, Mayweather also had an argument with the 80-year-old commentator Larry Merchant. Watch!

PREVIOUS UPDATE: The final matches in the 2011 William Jones Cup are happening today, August 14, 2011, and the Philippine national team "Smart Gilas" will vie only for the 3rd place slot after it lost to Iran, 59-78, during the semi-finals held yesterday.

Prior to the "Smart Gilas vs Chinese Taipei" game which happens at 5PM and the championship game between Iran and Korea at 7 PM, the teams from Japan (last year's 3rd placer) and Jordan face each other first for the 5th slot.

All three games today will still be held at the Hsinchuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City, Taiwan where all previous games were also held.

Azkals vs Kuwait live at midnight on ABS-CBN 2

The Philippine Azkals will probably play its toughest game ever tonight as the team faces Kuwait in Leg 1 of their campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The "Azkals vs Kuwait" Leg 1 - 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers will be held tonight, July 23, 2011, at the Qadsia Stadium in Kuwait.

It will be aired on ABS-CBN, with live coverage starting at 11:30 PM right after Banana Split Extra Scoop.

Game kicks off at 12:30 AM, that's already a Sunday, July 24, 2011. So better not sleep yet tonight, or sleep early, then just wake up at midnight to watch the "Azkals vs Kuwait" game live on ABS-CBN 2.

The Kuwaiti National Football Team ranks 102nd in FIFA World Ranking while the Philippine Azkals is only ranked 159th.

While it's Azkals' first time to enter FIFA World Cup Qualification Stage and make it to this level (2nd Round), Kuwait has already reached 3rd Round during the 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualification Stage.

The Philippines has never played in a main tournament of FIFA World Cup but Kuwait already did it in 1982.

But let's think positive, the Azkals will win vs Kuwait tonight.

If you can't catch tonight's game live on ABS-CBN, you can watch a replay tomorrow, Sunday, at 9:30 AM, still on ABS-CBN, then at 3:00 PM on BALLS channel and at 10:00 PM on STUDIO 23.

UAAP Season 74 Opening Ceremony (video)

The UAAP Season 74 has kicked off Saturday afternoon, July 9, 2011, with UAAP Season 71 to 73 Champion Ateneo De Manila University as the host.

And unlike in the previous years' opening ceremony, the UAAP Season 74 Opening was held outdoors, at the Marikini Sports Park, and as expected, it rained.

Some non-Ateneans reportedly blamed the host university for holding the Olympic-inspired opening ceremony outdoors and for not anticipating the possibility of rain especially in this rainy month of July.

Watch a video of the UAAP Season 74 Opening Ceremony with rock band SpongeCola singing "Puso":

The UAAP Season 74 Opening Games will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at 1 PM (FEU vs La Salle) and at 3 PM (Ateneo vs Adamson University) in Araneta Coliseum.

Philippine Volcanoes Bench Body billboards removed!

The members of the Philippine National Rugby Team aka The Philippine Volcanoes definitely heat up in their sexy Bench Body billboards and the gained praises from people who can appreciate hot-bodied men.

View: Philippine Volcanoes Bench Body Underwear Photos

But Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos couldn't take the heat as he ordered on Thursday the removal of the Philippine Volcanoes' Bench Body billboards installed along EDSA in Guadalupe.

According to Mayor Abalos, his office received complaints from people who found the billboards offensive and asked for their removal.

As of yesterday, the said billboards have already been removed. (Sad face here)

Some people understand Mayor Abalos' move 'coz his city is considered as among the most child-friendly cities in Metro Manila, but others also think the Mayor was kinda "OA" with his decision and have labeled him as "insecure".

Even TV host-actress Ruffa Gutierrez was surprised that the Philippine Volcanoes' sexy billboards were removed. "My gosh!!!! What happened to the Bench Billboards with the Philippine Rugby Team on Edsa?!? They're gone! Disappeared into thin air! :/" she said on Twitter.

Ruffa once had her own sexy billboards for Belo along EDSA where she was shown wearing bikini. Her billboard wasn't ordered to be removed, but reportedly it was banned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

On Twitter, some members of the Philippine Volcanoes have also expressed disappointment on the removal of their Bench Body billboards.

Ned Stephenson (@NedStephenson): "@ohyesitsmejoh @thahottstepper well its to help promote rugby i dont think its that bad to be honest there's more "mahalay" billboards!"

NedStephenson: "Good Night Everyone!! heard bout the billboards being taken down! but thank you all for still supporting the @PhilippineRugby Ingat =)"

Mykal Duhig (@Mykal_Duhig): "Shame they are taking our billboards down, hey Mayor Abalos did you know about rugby football prior to the billboard? #Ididntthinkso"

Arnold Aninion (@thahottstepper): "@ivervie Surprised at the outcome, but greatful for the support and work Bench did to spread awareness of rugby and for us volcanoes : )"

Andrew Wolff (@IamAndrewWolff): "The Mayor of Mandaluyong is having the #Bench #Volcanoes billboards removed.Dati ba wala bang nakalagay na billboard na my nakabrief?"

IamAndrewWolff: "Puwede bang patanggal din ang sangkatutak na mga billboard ni Mr A. sa Manda.? Kailangan bang makita ka sa bawat kanto? #Volcanoes #Bench"

Azkals or Philippine Volcanoes: Who's hotter?

The Philippine Azkals are hot, that's a fact, but some people are saying that the men from the Philippine Rugby Team, who call themselves as the Philippine Volcanoes, are way hotter.

These pictures and video of the Philippine Volcanoes for Bench Body underwear would tell you why...

Kenneth Stern, Patrice Bolivier and Chris Everingham

Oliver Saunders and Nicholas Perry

Ned Stephenson and Michael De Guzman

Jake Letts and Francisco "Kit" Guerra IV

Darran Seeto and Chris Everingham

The Philippine Rugby Team behind-the-scene video for Bench Body:

But wait, the battle of hotness between the Philippine Azkals and the Philippine Volcanoes simply doesn't end up there. It's just starting actually as Bench has also released just last Friday a photo of Azkals' team captain Aly Borromeo also posing in a Bench Body underwear.

Is it just a teaser for more Azkals players stripping down to their Bench Body underwear?

Definitely, the rivalry between the Philippine Azkals and the Philippine Volcanoes has just started and is now heating up.

UAAP Season 74 Opening this July 9 | Meet La Salle Green Archers' roster of players

Simon Atkins will still be the Team Captain of the De La Salle Green Archers in the upcoming UAAP Season 74.

It's now Simon Atkin's 5th Year to play for the Green Archers and for his final year, he will be leading the team in getting back the UAAP championship title which was won by the team 4 years ago during Simon's debut year in UAAP.

Simon is the only one playing on his 5th year among La Salle Green Archers players and we shall see if he will have a great final year in UAAP.

Aside from Atkins, returning players for DLSU Green Archers are Luis Alfonso "Luigi" De la Paz, Jarelan Tampus, Enrique Raphael "Aiki" Herrera, Philip "Papot" Paredes, Almond Vosotros, Mark Jovet Mendoza, Alvin Joseph "Maui" Villanueva, Joshua David Webb, Samuel Joseph "Sam" Marata, Martin John Reyes and Yutien Andrada.

Luis Alfonso "LA" Revilla will make a grand comeback for the Green Archers this UAAP Season 74 after missing out two seasons.

But definitely the team's new additions next season excite me the most. These photos would tell you why...

Roldan "Dan" Sara

Alfonso "Ponso" Gotladerafor

Arnold Van Opstal (Fil-German, stands 6'8")

So excited to see them play!

Not in pictures but also making his debut for the Green Archers is Norbert Torres. (Sorry, can't find a picture of you.)

I hope UAAP Season 74 will bring back the parade of players with their muses. Last year, there were no muses, but instead achievers from each school marched alongside the team captains.

For DLSU, Team Captain Simon Atkins escorted Enchong Dee during Season 73 Opening and let's all hope that for the new season, muses will be back and Atkins definitely would love to have Kim Chiu on his side as his muse. (Posible kaya?)

The UAAP Season 74 Opening Ceremonies will be held this July 9, that's a Saturday, at the Marikini Sports Center and will be aired live still on Studio 23.

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 possible in November 2011

Manny Pacquiao could possibly have Juan Manuel Marquez as his next opponent this coming November 2011.

Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez has already agreed to fight again for the 3rd time with Manny Pacquiao, according to Manny's promoter Bob Arum.

Los Angeles Times reported that Pacquiao and Marquez will fight at a welterweight catch weight of 144 pounds, with Marquez guaranteed with $5million.

However, the Pacquiao vs Marquez is not 100% sure to happen as Marquez's promoter Golden Boy has the contractual opportunity to match the deal and it could put Marquez in the ring against another opponent, still according to Los Angeles Times' report.

So it will really be all up to Golden Boy for the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 to push through.

Pacquiao and Marquez first fought inside the ring in May 2004 which resulted to a draw. It was a controversial fight as one of the judges admitted after the announcement that he made an error in the scorecards. Pacquiao could have won the fight had it been the said judge did not commit the mistake.

Then Pacquiao faced Marquez again in March 15, 2008, and the Filipino boxer won the match via split decision. It was again a controversial decision. Two judges favored Pacquiao and only one for Marquez, but most boxing analysts believed Marquez should have won the fight.

Since then, Marquez was asking for another rematch with Pacquiao but that time, the latter was firm in his decision not to fight with Marquez again.

And this 2011, the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 is possible and it's going to be a lot more interesting that Pacquiao's recent fights.

Who do you think will win the fight?

VIEWERS AT HOME EXPERIENCE BAD RECEPTION

The games turned out to be so much exciting for those who watched in Araneta, but not for the viewers at home, who allegedly experienced bad reception on Studio 23, most especially of the 2nd game (Brg. Ginebra vs Rain Or Shine). And reportedly in some places, there was no signal at all.

A lot of viewers have aired disappointments on Facebook and Twitter:

April Mercado Dela Cruz from Caloocan: "wla n ngang kaagaw s pnunu0d kc wla ng w.willie, ampotah!bul0k nmn stax0n nio,d nkpn0od kgbi..sna nman maaus n s su2n0d!"

Rafael Soberano Villegas from Cavite: "HELLO STUDIO 23..WALA BA KAYONG PALIWANAG TUNGKOL SA PAGKAWALA NG SIGNAL NINYO KAGABI SA 2ND GAME NG PBA..TILL NOW WALA KAYONG POST ..ASAR NA TAO SA INYO KAGABI . .KASAMA NA KO DUN."

Ariston Pangilinan from Pampanga (@bartespeak): "what happened to studio 23? low signal here in angeles city pampanga, almost 1 hour already!"

Nika Dycaico from Laguna (@nikabhebhe): "what's happening sa signal ng studio 23???ang labo dito sa laguna...#ginebra pa nmn!"

Studio 23 and Solar Entertainment haven't released a statement yet on this issue. But in all fairness to Studio 23, they entertained complaints yesterday on Twitter and asked for the location of those experiencing bad signal.

And it seems like the signal problem was experienced not only in one location.
