Asian Games 2010: Philippines wins 2nd gold, 1st silver medals at billiards event

It was an all-Filipino face-off during the 9-ball Pool (Men's Singles) finals this afternoon at the 16th Asian Games (Asiad 2010) in Guangzhou, China.

Dennis Orcollo and Warren Kiamco, both from the Philippines, competed against each other in the 9-ball Pool finals, which guaranteed 1 gold and 1 silver medal for the Philippines. (Orcollo won the gold, Kiamco won silver)

As of 4 PM today, the Philippines now has a total of 7 medals (2
golds, 1 silver, 4 bronzes).

The first gold was won by bowler Engelberto Rivera while the bronze
medals were earned by: Ronnie Vergara and Charlea Lagaras (from 2 Dancesport events), bowler Frederick Ong and hottie Wushu player Mark Eddiva (photo).

While it's already impossible for the Philippines to finish in the over-all Top 3 (now occupied by China, South Korea and Japan), the
country still has the great chance of landing on the Top 10, and even on the Top 5.

The latest medals tally in the Asian Games 2010 now has the
Philippines ranked 11th, just behind Malaysia which has 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals.

The last time the Philippines finished in the Top 10 was during the 1986 Asian Games, when it placed 6th over-all.

Let's all hope for more gold medals as more Filipino athletes will compete on the coming days.

Fans of taekwondo hottie Japoy Lizardo for sure are already excited of his game this Saturday morning (Nov. 20). Japoy will compete in Taekwondo Under 54 kg against Al Kubati Tameem from Yemen.

Asian Games 2010 Medals Tally: China still leads, now with 67 medals

The competition continues to heat up at the Asian Games 2010 in Guangzhou, China

Now on its Day 3, over 200 medals were already awarded to winning athletes, and the host country is getting most of the medals so far.

As of 12 noon today, China already won 39 gold, 16 silver and 12
bronze medals, totaling to 67 medals.

The host country, which was hailed Champion since 1982 Asian Games, now has a very comfortable lead over South Korea, in 2nd place, which
has 15 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze models while Japan follows with 8 golds, but with 20 silver and 15 bronzemedals.

Since 1978, those 3 countries were just switching places in the Top 3 of Asian Games. And China has always been on top spot starting in 1982.

And for 2010, it's too early but it seems like China, Korea and Japan
will end up in the Top 3 again.

There are 45 Asian countries competing and so far, only 20 of them have won at least 1 medal. And that includes the Philippines which has
2 bronze medals as of this posting.

Thanks to dancing partners Ronnie Vergara and Charlea Lugaras who won
2 bronzes in the Dancesport event.
