It was an all-Filipino face-off during the 9-ball Pool (Men's Singles) finals this afternoon at the 16th Asian Games (Asiad 2010) in Guangzhou, China.
Dennis Orcollo and Warren Kiamco, both from the Philippines, competed against each other in the 9-ball Pool finals, which guaranteed 1 gold and 1 silver medal for the Philippines. (Orcollo won the gold, Kiamco won silver)
As of 4 PM today, the Philippines now has a total of 7 medals (2
golds, 1 silver, 4 bronzes).
The first gold was won by bowler Engelberto Rivera while the bronze
medals were earned by: Ronnie Vergara and Charlea Lagaras (from 2 Dancesport events), bowler Frederick Ong and hottie Wushu player Mark Eddiva (photo).
While it's already impossible for the Philippines to finish in the over-all Top 3 (now occupied by China, South Korea and Japan), the
country still has the great chance of landing on the Top 10, and even on the Top 5.
The latest medals tally in the Asian Games 2010 now has the
Philippines ranked 11th, just behind Malaysia which has 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals.
The last time the Philippines finished in the Top 10 was during the 1986 Asian Games, when it placed 6th over-all.
Let's all hope for more gold medals as more Filipino athletes will compete on the coming days.
Fans of taekwondo hottie Japoy Lizardo for sure are already excited of his game this Saturday morning (Nov. 20). Japoy will compete in Taekwondo Under 54 kg against Al Kubati Tameem from Yemen.
Goodluck Japoy, Chris Tiu (basketball) and to all the Filipino athletes in the 2010 Asian Games.
