The Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad has failed to defend its title as the UAAP Cheerdancing Champion when it lost to the University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad in the 2010 competition held today, September 12, 2010, at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Samsung UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2010 was participated in by the 8 UAAP teams and the UP Pep Squad got the highest score beating last year's champion, the FEU Cheering Squad.
It's now the 6th championship title for UP in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition after winning in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2007 and 2008, and finishing just 3rd in 2009. They won a cash prize of P340,000 and new Samsung Champ mobile units.
As 1st Runner Up (2nd Place), FEU won a cash prize of P200,000.
UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, who's an 8-time UAAP Cheerdance Champion, was the 2nd Runner Up (3rd place) receiving P140,000.
One special award was handed out, the Samsung Stunner Award or the Face of UAAP Cheerdance Competition and it was Nikka de Dios of DLSU Animo Squad.
Non-winning teams were the Adamson Pep Squad, Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion, NU Pep Squad and the UE Pep Squad.
On Twitter, the year's UAAP Cheerdance Competition was the #1 trending topic with 6 other related terms in the Top 10 such as Pep Squad, ADMU, Tamaraws, UST, FEU and Sunflowers (props of UP Pep Squad).
