Did 'Zorro' save GMA7?

Yes, it did.

The Pinoy version of Zorro, played by Richard Gutierrez, saved GMA 7 last Monday, March 23, 2009, when the show debuted with 35.8% rating in Mega Manila households based on the figures released by AGB Nielsen Media Research.

The said rating has topped all the programs that day and preventing ABS-CBN shows to take a plunge (They did not even get 30+ ratings).

But comparing Zorro's pilot rating with those of GMA's soaps in the last three years, it's nowhere to be found in the Top 10.

Much worse, it failed to surpass the pilot ratings registered by Richard's previous hit shows on GMA such as Kamandag (42.7%), Codename: Asero (40.1%), Lupin (37.8%), Captain Barbell (37.5%) and Sugo (36.5%).
