50 Most Powerful Showbiz Personalities in 2008

Yes! Magazine has listed down 50 of the most powerful people in Philippine showbiz for 2008 (26 Entertainers and 24 Executives) on their April 2009 issue.

On top of the '50 Most Powerful' list (among the entertainers) is Wowowee host Willie Revillame and Yes! reveals that the successful host-singer-endorser earns 1 million pesos a day. (Wow! Kaya siguro mainit siya sa isang TV host!)

Willie is even more powerful than Manny Pacquiao (#22). Could you believe this? Willie does not need any hard-hitting punches just to get rich.

Kris Aquino, who is tagged as the Queen of All Media, comes in far second with an earnings of 3.3 million pesos, not per day, but per month. That means, Kris only earns 110,000 a day as against Willie's 1 million per day earnings. But atleast, the number is enough to make Kris as the most powerful female entertainer in the country.

Among the young actors, it seems like John Lloyd Cruz (#3) is the clear leader while Marian Rivera is her female counterpart (#5).

Thus, it's safe to say, at least for now, that John Lloyd is drawing more pesos than Piolo Pascual (#9), Richard Gutierrez (#6) and Dingdong Dantes (#7). And also, Marian as the most powerful young actress has truly left Angel Locsin behind as well as Judy Ann Santos (#13), Claudine Barretto, Kristine Hermosa and Bea Alonzo (#19).

Robin Padilla, at #4, has also proven he's more powerful and influential than Aga Muhlach, Gabby Concepcion, Cesar Montano and Richard Gomez.

But what's surprising to know is that Sarah Geronimo, who is part of the list and recently has been named 2008 Box Office Queen by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation, has only earned P200,000 in her 2008 Box Office Hit A Very Special Love and maybe, still the same amount in the 2009's topgrossing film You Changed My Life.

It's understandable though because the movie was her (major) launching movie and with the great boxoffice turnouts of A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life, Sarah will now demand higher talent fee on her next movies and for sure, will get higher rankings in the 50 Most Powerful List for 2009.

And with that, I think Sarah is #1 when it comes to the list of stars with the best box-office returns or turnouts and she's doing much better than those highest-paid actors/actress but are considered as "superstar flops" due to the "not so favorable" box office returns of their movies.

Here's the Top 10 Entertainers in Yes! Mag's 50 Most Powerful in Showbiz:
