Philippines' Czarina Gatbonton vies for the "Beauty with a Purpose" title of Miss World 2010

One important title in the Miss World 2010 pageant is the "Beauty with a Purpose" title which is actually one of the so-called "fast-track" competitions in the pageant.

The candidate who is named Beauty with a Purpose will automatically enter the Top 15 semi-finals.

One of the candidates hoping to get that title is Miss Philippines Czarina Gatbonton. Watch her video as her entry and judge if she has a strong chance of being named "Beauty with a Purpose":

Miss St. Lucia Aiasha Gustave is getting stronger as Miss World 2010 bet

From #8 on the previous list, Miss St. Lucia Aiasha Tierra Rebecca Gustave is now ranked 3rd on Mykiru's 3rd list of favorites for Miss
World 2010. Is she the next on top?

Miss Saint Lucia World 2010 Aiasha Gustave photo

The 18-year-old student who is of British-Guyanese mixture is among
those candidates who have sustained their momentum ever since they land on China 2 weeks ago.

Aiasha's chance of winning the first Miss World title for her country is also getting stronger especially after she was chosen as one of the 10 speakers in the Shanghai Forum and after being included in the Top 40 Beach Beauty semi-finalists.

Expect Miss St. Lucia to perform so well in the Beach Beauty finals and also in the Top Model and Talent Fast-Track events.

Miss World 2010: Miss Philippines & Miss Hong Kong pictured together

As if nothing happened between their respective country (remember the hostage crisis?), Miss World 2010 contestants Sau Man "Sammi" Cheung from Hong Kong China and Czarina Gatbonton from the Philippines gamely posed together for a picture during their tour in Beijing.

Japan (Hiroko Matsunaga), Philippines & Hong Kong

Miss Philippines and Miss Hong Kong are showing to the world that they're fine with each other and definitely aren't gonna be affected by any issue caused by the hostage drama. That's good actually!

The Philippine delegation has actually lots of pictures with some other candidates and even with the reigning Miss World during their stay in Beijing.

Today, September 6, the candidates have already arrived in Ordos, Inner Mongolia after being welcomed in Beijing. They will stay there for three days before they move to Shanghai on the 9th.

TIDBITS ABOUT THE OTHER CANDIDATES

India, Singapore and Thailand

Miss India Manasvi Mamgai, who was among the top pre-pageant favorites and is well-prepared, doesn't look her best in some pictures. She also appears short when lined up with other candidates. Maybe her experience in modeling and as Miss Tourism International 2008 could give her the edge over other candidates. Same thing for the host delegate Miss China Xiao Tang who's also not looking her best.

***

Miss Australia Ashleigh Francis is half-Jamaican while Miss Indonesia Asyifa Syafningdyah Putriambami Latief is half-Arabian.

***

Miss Sierra Leone Neyorlyn Willams was the last candidate to arrive in Beijing.

Some candidates of Miss World 2010 showcased their talents during the
Talent Prelims held yesterday, October 3, in Beijing.

Finalists were chosen to compete again for the Talent Fast
Track on October 26 in Sanya and the winner will earn an automatic slot in the pageant's semis on the 30th.

***

It was a busy weekend for the Miss World 2010 candidates. They had photoshoots for a Chinese fashion designer, filmed for the Miss World official website and rehearsed for a presentation in Ordos, Mongolia. But despite the busy-ness, they were given time to tour Beijing and even went shopping.

Julia Morley to Miss Philippines Czarina Gatbonton: "You're so
beautiful!"

Miss World 2010 contestants
Miss Spain Fatima Jimenez, Miss Philippines, Miss Puerto Rico Yara Lasanta & Miss Venezuela Adriana Vasini

Miss Philippines Czarina Gatbonton happily shared to her trainer and handler John dela Vega that Miss World Organization President Julia
Morley has described her as beautiful.

Morley said to Czarina, "You're so beautiful, what country are you
representing?" Czarina replied, "I'm from the Philippines Madamme."

The compliment is making Miss Philippines inspired. "Tito John, grabe
ang self-confidence ko ngayon, hindi ako nahihiya at all,
ganadong-ganado ako at excited at na-meet ko na si Julia Morley - I'm
beautiful daw!" (Tito John, I have so much self-confidence. I'm not
ashamed at all. I feel so inspired and excited. I finally met Julia
Morley and she said I'm beautiful!)

John dela Vega, who's keeping in touch with Czarina, also shared that
Czarina gave Morley a pearl necklace a day after they first met. Some media men and MWO staff reportedly have mistaken Miss Philippines as
Miss India.

Czarina Gatbonton's send-off to China for the Miss World 2010 pageant

A send-off party was held yesterday for Czarina Catherine Gatbonton, the Philippines' delegate to the Miss World 2010 pageant happening in China this October.

It was held at the Mandarin Oriental Suites in Gateway Mall, attended by fellow Binibining Pilipinas titleholders, people from BPCI, the press and some others to wish her goodluck in the Miss World 2010
pageant.

Czarina will leave for China this Friday and try to bring the first
Miss World crown for the Philippines or atleast enter the finals .

It's been 5 years already since Carlene Aguilar made it to the semis of Miss World and 17 long years since the Philippines finished in the
Top 3 thru Ruffa Gutierrez in 1993.

In the last 10 years, Philippines only made it to the semis four times and just only 6 times during the past 20 years. Not so good record!

So hopefully Czarina will help improve the country's record in Miss World, which now the biggest pageant in the world with 120 expected
candidates this 2010.
