The Philippine version of the Mexicanovela "Rubi" aired its final episode tonight, but with an ending that I really don't like.
It was very Filipinized that just to put some Pinoy values, Rubi played by Angelica Panganiban made a big change from devilish to very angelic girl.
It's a big deviation from the original Mexican version where Rubi was still bad until she grew old despite being amputated, no longer gorgeous and even used her lookalike niece, Fernanda (daughter of Cristina), on her revenge to Alejandro and Maribel.
But of course, ABS-CBN is committed to instilling Filipino values on its viewers so probably that's why they changed the ending of Rubi.
On my part, it could have been more exciting if they sticked to the original ending because the ending they chose was very predictable, unrealistic and a "May Bukas Pa"-type of ending.
Despite it all, Rubi's finale was a success and got people hooked with it. On Twitter, "Rubi" was a top trending topic on its finale and peaked at a high #3.
On Monday, August 16, Rubi's timeslot will be taken over by Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Martha Cecilia's Kristine, another reason to stay up late at night.
