Britney Spears is dead, according to hacked Twitter account

After the sudden death of Michael Jackson which made social networking site Twitter very much flooded with visitors just to tweet the news, more and more celebrities have become subjects of "death announcements" on the said site.

Aside from Jackson, celebrity death announcements have also been made on Twitter for other celebrities such as Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and pitchman Billy Mays, who are dead for real.

But some other celebrities have become victims of fake death announcements like Jeff Goldblum, Ellen DeGeneres, Diddy and the most recent, Princess of Pop Britney Spears.

First and foremost, Jeff, Ellen, Diddy and Britney are not dead.

Their Twitter accounts are believed to have been hacked by somebody else only to tweet them as "dead".

The announcement for Britney Spears as dead went this way:

"Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come."

It's not the first time though that a celebrity has been declared dead on Twitter.

Last May, Twitter has also wrongly announced Patrick Swayze as dead.

As for Britney Spears, she has always been "declared dead".

In 2001, when Britney was still on with Justin Timberlake, she and Timberlake were reported to have died from a car crash.

Other false reports in the past also claimed Britney committed suicide, died of drug overdose or cardiac arrest.

It's so funny that there was this website called "When is Britney going to die?" where visitors had to predict Britney's time of death and got the chance to win a PS3.
