Miss Philippines Sandra Seifert has just been named Miss Earth 2009's Best in Swimsuit, during the swimwear finals held last night, November 14, at Fontana Leisure Park and Casino in Pampanga.
It's actually the first time for the Philippines to receive such award in Miss Earth beauty pageant.
Another special award was handed out during the swimsuit final competition.
Miss China Yan Xu was named Miss Fontana Resort.
The Top 15 Finalists for Best in Swimsuit:
Brazil, Larissa Ramos
Canada, Lateesha Khamila Ector
Colombia, Alejandra Castillo Múnera
Cuba, Jamillette Gaxiola
France, Magalie Audrey Thierry
Hungary, Korinna Kocsis
Malaysia, Madelyne Nandu
Mexico, Natalia Quiñónes Perez
Paraguay, Gabriela Mercedes Rejala
Philippines, Sandra Inez Seifert - WINNER!
Spain, Alejandra Echevarria
Switzerland, Graziella Rogers
Turks & Caicos, Alison Grace Capron
USA, Amy Diaz
Venezuela, Jessica Barboza

In Miss Earth history, all Best in Swimsuit awardees (except in 2003) managed to secure a slot in the semis.
In fact, most of them ended up in the Top 4 and one was proclaimed Miss Earth (in 2005).
But in case of Seifert, the highest placement she could get this year is probably 1st Runner Up, because the reigning Miss Earth is from the Philippines, not unless the organizers would want to duplicate the move made by Miss Universe earlier, for having a back-to-back winner from Venezuela.
On Mykiru's list of favorites, Miss Philippines is currently the top favorite to win this year.
