Philippine Azkals star striker Phil Younghusband is worried he might not be able to play for the Philippine Azkals in the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 Qualifying Games next week in Myanmar.
Phil Younghusband had a really serious injury in their match against Mongolia earlier.
During the 65th minute of the game, Phil felt hamstring strain that he had to be replaced by Yanti Bersales and he never came back in the game, as per ruling that the the players who have been substituted, on this case it's Phil, will no longer go back into the game.
According to ABS-CBN sportcaster TJ Manotoc, Phil has a straining hamstring and he might not play in Myanmar. "I'm concerned for Phil Younghusband's pulled hamstring. may take 2-4 weeks to heal which means he may miss Myanmar qualifiers," TJ said on Twitter.
Phil also posted about it on Twitter. "Guys, really sorry about the loss. Glad we qualified though. Worried I will miss the games in Myanmar. ;-("
Sportcaster Dyan Castillejo also tweeted that Phil will have his leg checked as soon as he comes back to Manila by tomorrow.
Oh no!
Treatment for pulled hamstring might require Phil to rest and avoid doing any sport activities for up to 3 weeks.
I hope he recovers fast 'coz their first game in Myanmar will be on Monday already.
The Philippines joins Group A composed of Myanmar, Palestine and Bangladesh in the qualifying group stage of the AFC 2012 Challenge Cup to be held in Myanmar.
On March 21, Azkals will face host team Myanmar, then play versus Palestine on Mar. 23 and finally against Bangladesh on the 25th.
