Pinoy rock band Bamboo has decided to split up after 8 successful years.
KC Montero was the first to spread the news on Twitter this morning when he posted: "just announced by Kat on the show...Bamboo has officially split."
He was referring to his radio show "The KC Show with Kat" on Wave 89.1 FM and his co-host Kat Alano was the one who broke the sad news to their listeners.
"They are all quitting. All doing something else..like moving on," KC further explained on Twitter.
Kat, who for sure knows the reason why Bamboo has disbanded, prefers not to disclose it. "For everyone tweeting for reasons for the breaking, I'm sure the band will tell their side soon enough =)," Kat told her Twitter followers.
The group splitting up comes as a big surprise 'coz it's only a month since they performed in Cebu last December for the Tanduay Rhum First Five 2010 Nationwide Concert Tour.
Bamboo actually had a busy 2010 when they toured 20 key cities in the country to perform for that Tanduay-sponsored event, starting in April up to December.
It was in his concert in Cebu when some fans reportedly were able to notice Bamboo Mañalac, the vocalist, lookin' sick (or not lookin' fine).
Maybe he was just tired already 'coz the group just performed in Tacloban a night before.
Aside from Bamboo Mañalac, the group was also composed of Ira Cruz (guitarist), Nathan Azarcon (bass) and Vic Mercado (drums).
Formed in 2002 and became a well-loved rock group, Bamboo had released 4 albums, all top-sellers. One of the albums turned gold, two went platinum and one reached double platinum.
Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation has named Bamboo as the Most Popular Recording Group during the 2007 Box Office Entertainment Awards and was awarded Artist of the Year twice in the NU 107 Rock Awards (2004, 2007).
Bamboo's hit songs included "Noypi", "Tatsulok", "Probinsyana" and "Hallelujah".
