From a meaningful poem to a wonderful song...
If there's one song that is most requested over the radio and among the most searched song on the internet now, it's "I Have Fallen In Love (With The Same Woman Three Times" which re-gaining its fame after former President Corazon Cojuango Aquino died on Saturday.
The lyrics of the song came from the poem written by the late Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr dedicated to his wife Cory for their 19th Wedding Anniversary celebration in 1973.
Great songwriter and musician Jose Mari Chan put melody to it in 1989 and included in his "Constant Change" album which was 10x platinum.
Now, the song is being revived by Asia's Pop Idol Christian Bautista and included in his soon-to-be released album which contains 20 Jose Mari Chan hits.
The decision to revive the song was made even before Cory died.
In fact, Manila Bulletin reported about Christian Bautista recording Ninoy's poem to Cory last Friday, July 31, a day before Cory's death.
Listen to Jose Mari Chan and Christian Bautista with their respective version of "I Have Fallen In Love" (with lyrics below):
I have fallen in love
with the same woman three times;
In a day spanning 19 years
of tearful joys and joyful tears.
I loved her first when she was young,
enchanting and vibrant, eternally new.
She was brilliant, fragrant,
and cool as the morning dew.
I fell in love with her the second time;
when first she bore her child and mine
always by my side, the source of my strength,
helping to turn the tide.
But there were candles to burn
the world was my concern;
while our home was her domain.
and the people were mine
while the children were hers to maintain;
So it was in those 18 years and a day.
'till I was detained; forced in prison to stay.
Suddenly she's our sole support;
source of comfort,
our wellspring of Hope.
On her shoulders felt the burden of Life.
I fell in love again,
with the same woman the third time.
Looming from the battle,
her courage will never fade
Amidst the hardships she has remained,
undaunted and unafraid.
she is calm and composed,
she is God's lovely maid.
