Philippines' Ex-President Cory Aquino dies at 76

I woke up early this morning only to hear the sad news that former Philippine President Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino died at around 3 am today, August 1, 2009, as relayed to the media by her son, Senator Benigno "NoyNoy" Aquino III.

Cory was 76 (January 25, 1933 – August 01, 2009).

She died of a cardio-respiratory arrest caused by her colon cancer, which she battled for more than one year.

Aside from Noynoy, Cory has four more children: Maria Elena Aquino-Cruz, Aurora Corazon Aquino-Abellada, Victoria Eliza Aquino-Dee, and Kristina Bernadette "Kris" Aquino, a popular and influential showbiz personality in the country who is married to basketeer James Yap.

***

Cory was a very important political figure in the Philippines, other than just being an ex-President and the first ever female President in the Philippines and in Asia.

She served as an instrument for the country in obtaining the democracy that the people are enjoying now.

She led the 1986 People Power Revolution which ended Ferdinand E. Marcos' reign as a dictator President.

Just like her husband Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. who was assassinated during Marcos Regime on August 21, 1983, Cory Aquino was also a "hero" for the Filipino people and responsible for shaping not only Philippines history but of the world as well.

They both died in the month of August, the same month when the Philippines celebrates its National Heroes Day.

***

Cory's death almost falls on the same date of the death of a popular coach in England named Sir Bobby Robson, who also died of cancer on July 31 at the same age of 76.

'And I Love You So' movie stills of Sam, Bea and Derek

Star Cinema releases some movie stills from its latest offering "And I Love You So", which stars Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby and Derek Ramsay.

Looking at the said movie stills, it seems like "And I Love You So" promises us with lots of sexy scenes from the three lead stars.

There you can see Bea Alonzo for the first time in a two-piece bikini, Sam Milby naked but wrapped in a towel and more...

Maricar Reyes, from "sex video star" to "sexy cover girl"

Maricar Reyes is now reaping the fruits of keeping silent, being a strong woman and staying professional after the stormy scandal.

Maricar, who first gained nationwide popularity by being one of the girls in Hayden Kho Jr's controversial videos, is now a cover girl for a fashion magazine.

She is the face of Metro Magazine for its August 2009 issue.

In the mag, Maricar opens up about different issues involving her and that includes the sex videos she starred in with Hayden Kho Jr.

It is actually Maricar's first ever cover for a magazine, though she already graced different pages of magazines as an image model in the past.

For sure, this is just a start for Maricar who will be covering more and more magazine covers in the future.

On television, as one of the Star Magic talents on ABS-CBN, Maricar first appeared on I Love Betty La Fea then on May Bukas Pa and now currently being seen on Precious Hearts Romances Presents Bud Brothers and Your Song Presents Gaano Kita Kamahal.

She is also being introduced in the Star Cinema film "And I Love You So" which opens in theaters this August 12 and will play Piolo Pascual's girlfriend in the Philippine remake of "Lovers in Paris" which will air on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida also this August.

Here are some scans from Metro Magazine August 2009 issue with Maricar Reyes as feature cover girl:
